Sickness, acute illness, serious disease, physical or mental pain: For many of us these become our primary link to our educational journey. While many of us may be too busy worrying about our cars, homes, careers and material ventures, discovering we have an illness of any sort will inevitably touch our lives and reshape priorities in an instant. At times you will feel like you can lead the world, but then inevitably a humbling event occurs. The most humbling events are the ones that threaten your health.
There is often a lack of understanding the functions and requirements of human body. We have an amazing innate capacity to heal! However, the world is sold on symptom suppression, unaware of the incredible miracles within. Through proper education, one becomes aware of how to improve, and works towards a healthier lifestyle, allowing healing to occur. There’s no question we all need to maximize our tools! In the hectic pace of life, health and nutrition education has been given a low priority in our homes and schools. This lack of emphasis has spawned apathy and needless suffering.
Conventional or allopathic medicine has its focus on treating the symptoms of disease.  A Holistic health approach focuses on prevention of illness in the first place and supporting the body’s innate healing capacity.  Root causes must be addressed for true healing to occur.  The word “holistic” is derived from the Greek word holos  which means “whole.”  As a “holistic” health educator, I help one focus not on disease, but on living healthy in body, mind, emotions and spirit.  One has to recognize that homeostatis or balance occurs when all aspects of one’s life are in harmony.
This understanding has motivated me to author “The Best Little Health Book Ever,” the quintessential Natural Health primer.  Accompanied by my latest book near print is “Health on A Shoestring,” offering expert guidance on how to stay well on a limited budget.  I’m a contributing author of “101 Great Ways to Improve Your Health” and a soon to be published anthology, “Wisdom of Our Mothers.”  I have several E-books, “Health Care: Under The Microscope…What We’re Missing in the Big Debate” and “The Truth Is Hidden In Plain Sight,” available upon request.
When one makes the necessary changes in daily living to incorporate regular exercise, inner (spiritual) reflection, holistic nutrition, proper rest, pure water, upbuilding relationships, and other health-enhancing methods, it is amazing how the body responds.
We all must use our gifts and talents to embellish others lives.  That is an important aspect in achieving our own personal health. It has been a wonderful privilege over the last several decades to lecture, teach and counsel a myriad of fascinating clients and audiences.  My mentoring individuals across the U.S. in private settings, fitness clubs, health food stores, corporate offices, colleges and universities and numerous other venues is very rewarding.
